Hoover Outfitting operates in the far northeastern reaches of the state, with access to vast pieces of prime ground. From a bird hunter’s perspective, this is the last frontier, and it is prairie in every direction. The birds are wild, the habitat is both rich and expansive, and Chad Hoover has spent a lifetime exploring the resource to ensure some of the best bird hunting in the lower 48.

The prairie cover in northeast Montana is host to snow berries, buffalo berries, assorted terrestrials, and wheat. All of these food sources in turn provide our birds with ample nourishment and serve to keep populations robust. Hoover Outfitting concentrates on sharp-tailed grouse and Hungarian partridge. Chad and his small guide team are enthusiastic and driven outdoorsmen who know wild Montana inside and out; they are passionate hunters and passionate stewards who maintain an intimate knowledge of the local terrain and wildlife.

There is no place like the prairie to witness great dog work, and the Hoover Outfitting dog string is comprised of both pointers and flushers that are well-trained and of the finest pedigree. They are bred and selected for their ability to hunt this country, and to find birds in a sea of prairie grass. Year-round exposure to wild birds and wild places makes our dogs at home in the field. Though folks come to Hoover Outfitting in the hopes of great shooting and a heavy bag, they leave talking about the magic of great dog work.
