Description

Yellowstone Park has some ridiculously good hopper fishing in early fall. The Lamar River and the Gibbon River in particular run through some very open grassland that is full of grasshoppers. On a windy day, the fly fishing on these rivers can be spectacular. This foam grasshopper fly pattern stays high on the water and will take fish after fish without getting waterlogged. This grasshopper fly pattern is tied by Tom Travis of Livingston, Montana, one of the best fly tiers in country.
